Summer Reading 2019, presented by the St. Petersburg Library System, launches this June at the Main Library. This year’s theme, A Universe of Stories, is in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing.

The opening party for all ages will include:
- Distribution of the Summer Reading activity packet
- Performance by DoDad’s Lab, a science-based children’s entertainer
- Crafts in the Storytime room
- Announcement of bookmark awards from Children’s Book Week
Summer Reading runs June 1-August 4 and includes programming for infants through high schoolers at St. Petersburg Libraries. Readers can expect to enjoy space-themed books and reading activities with prizes and the Mayor’s Reading Challenge with a drawing for a special prize.
This year, Main Library, James W. Johnson Community Library and South Community Library will host Summer BreakSpot, where children 18 and under can enjoy free lunch at no cost. BreakSpot will run June 1 – August 9.
